TAGLINE:
A brilliant artist lost in a world of his own imagination.
A brilliant psychologist trapped by his unusual cure.
A beautiful woman who may be an angel, an alien, or may not even exist.
UMMU - “Reality has a strange way of making things up.”
The play concerns an artist who has become immersed in a fantasy world of his own creation. His psychiatrist/psychologist, after trying all the known approaches, decides to immerse himself in his patient's world to cure him and attempt to bring him out. But there is a woman in UMMU who may be real or invented, and she causes...trouble.
Examining the nature of reality, truth, and lies, UMMU also tackles our sense of identity and breaks down every wall until the play becomes reality and reality becomes scripted.
-----
After the Staged Reading on both nights, there will be a short talk-back and a reception featuring light refreshments. Tom Miller will not answer any questions. The cast will be free to interact with the audience about their thoughts regarding the play.
The Staged Reading, a part of the ART's ART à la Carte!
and will star Shamrock McShane, Michael Bobbitt, and Katina Dailey.
Directed by Tom Miller.

EXCERPT FROM UMMU:
CELESTE: My name is Celeste. I am a psychiatrist. Once upon a time, I prescribed methamphetamines to treat a patient afflicted with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He read the label on the bottle, and on it, there was a warning “Caution May cause a false-sense of euphoria.” And then he asked me, “If I’m happy, aren’t I happy?” And I replied, “Everything is a lie.” And he was happy when he finally swallowed that pill.
We would like to encourage you to write a feature on this original world premiere, and feature the event in your calendar and recommendations.
